Open Beit Midrash
OBM is the perfect time to partake in any Jewish learning of your choosing. Whether you want to learn Jewish philosophy, Gemara, or the parsha, whether in chavruta or solo, OBM is the place for you! No prior learning background is required, and we can help you find a chavruta (learning partner) if you desire! Who doesn't love pizza and torah?
Tisch
Love singing over some cholent and snacks? Make sure to join one of our Thursday night fabrengens or tisches to listen to Torah, sing with friends, and get ready for Shabbat.
Friday Night Jarty
Jarties are one of the central components of the Jewish community. These relaxing, post-shabbat dinner hangouts at an upperclassmen’s house are a great way to hangout with friends, read THE SHTICK (JSA’s weekly newsletter), play games, and enjoy Shabbat with the entire community.
Book Club
After grabbing some kiddush on Shabbos, head to Book Club! Join a student-led discussion on the designated reading. It's the perfect place to engage with Jewish philosophical texts and discuss themes of identity and prayer, to name a few. Past selections have included A Man's Quest for God, A Lonely Man of Faith, and Kol Dodi Dofek.
Melava Malka
Melava malkas are another great opportunity to hangout with friends and share some snacks and singing after Shabbat!
Bagey Time
Bagels every. single. morning. Take the time to shmooze or shteig with a bagel in hand (with lox if it's a "lox day"). Bagey time is a quintessential JSA bonding activity. Just don't forget to collect your bagel when the toaster pops!
